7. Timing Belt Removal
1. Remove the eight bolts and one nut that secure the timing belt cover.
2. Remove the timing belt cover (12).
IMPORTANT: Before removing the timing belt, align the upper and the lower timing marks by turning the crankshaft.
3. Ensure that the upper timing marks (1 and 2) are aligned.
4. Ensure that the lower timing mark on the oil pump cover (1) and the lower timing belt sprocket (2) are aligned.
5. Loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt (2) and the stud (1).
6. Remove the belt from the crankshaft timing belt pulley and the camshaft timing belt pulley after pushing up the tensioner plate fully with your finger.
