Doors: Description and Operation

The information in this section provides the body service procedures that apply to the front and rear doors.

The service attaching screws may not contain a thread locking compound. Treat the threads of the fasteners with GM PIN 12345493 or the equivalent for the following reasons:
^ In order to prevent loosening of the service screws
^ In order to renew the thread locking characteristics of the production screws

Apply GM P/N 12345493 to the hardware attachment as a liquid. Upon installation and tightening, the adhesive cures to bond the attachment in order to prevent the following conditions:
^ Loosening
^ Backing out

The adhesive bond does not prevent future attachment removal if required.

The mechanical components of the door assembly are lubricated during assembly. If additional lubrication if required, use the following lubricants:
^ Lubricate all door lock cylinders with Multi-Purpose Lubricant GM P/N 12346241 or the equivalent.
^ Lubricate the remainder of the door hardware mechanisms with GM P/N 1052196 Lubriplate Auto-lube "A" or the equivalent.
