Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThe electric cooling fan will operate when the engine coolant temperature is above 223°F, A/C refrigerant pressure is above 51 psi or diagnostic trouble codes (DTC 14) has been set. A DTC 14 condition indicates a failed engine coolant temperature sensor, when this occurs the fan will receive an On command from the PCM and the cooling fan will run. On vehicle equipped with air conditioning the fan will run when A/C is requested. When engine coolant temperature drops below 211°F, then the PCM will command fan Off.
