Seat Belt Reminder Lamp: Description and Operation

The Fasten Seat Belt indicator is used with the warning chime to tell the operator to fasten the seat belt. The seat belt switch is located in the driver's side B-pillar that is normally open when the seat belt is buckled.

If the seat belt is not buckled, the switch closes, and a ground path is completed from the G1O circuit to the Z1 circuit. This illuminates the lamp in the instrument cluster. Ground for the seat belt switch is terminated at the right rear wheel house.

When the ignition switch is moved to the START position, the lamp illuminates. Logic internal the instrument cluster determines the length of time the lamp remains illuminated.
