Road Testing A Complaint Vehicle
Some complaints will require a test drive as part of a diagnostic test or repair verification procedure. The purpose of the test drive is to try and duplicate the diagnostic code and/or symptom condition.CAUTION: Conditions that result in illumination of the BRAKE warning lamp may indicate reduced braking ability. Before road testing a brake complaint vehicle, especially if the BRAKE warning lamp is on, test the brakes at low speed to be sure that the vehicle will stop normally.
CAUTION: Never assume that full ABS braking will be available during road test. Before testing the vehicle, be sure that all components are reassembled. During the test drive, do not try to read the Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB) screen while in motion. Do not hang the DRB from the rear view mirror or try to operate it yourself. Have an assistant available to operate the DRB.
