Shift Cable: Service and Repair

Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Set the park brake and chock the wheels.





2. Fully lift the retainer from the transaxle range selector cable mechanism.





3. Disconnect the transaxle range selector cable terminal from the transaxle manual shift lever pin.
4. Press the locking tabs inward in order to release the transaxle range selector cable from the bracket.
5. Remove the left closeout insulator panel.
6. Remove the console center trim panel.





7. Remove the shift control cable from the floor shift assembly.





8. Remove the cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the shift control cable to the vehicle.





2. Install the cable end cap to the floor shift assembly.
3. Install the console center trim panel.
4. Install the left closeout insulator panel.





5. Install the transaxle range selector cable into the bracket.
6. Connect the transaxle range selector cable terminal to the transaxle manual shift lever pin.





7. Install the retainer to the transaxle range selector cable mechanism.
8. Adjust the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
