Door Replacement - Front

Tools Required

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the door module.
3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door. Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door
4. Remove the inside door handle. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Front Inside (Door Handle Replacement) .
5. Remove the window inner belt seal strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Inner (Front Side Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement) .
6. Remove the outside rear view mirror. Refer to Mirror Replacement - Power (Mirror Replacement - Power Mirror) .
7. Remove the window outer belt seal strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Outer (Front Side Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement) .
8. Remove the window. Refer to Window Replacement - Front Door (Service and Repair) .
9. Remove the window weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Window (Door Window Weatherstrip) .
10. Remove the door frame applique. Refer to Door Frame Applique Replacement - Front () .
11. Remove the window regulator. Refer to Window Regulator Replacement - Front Door (Service and Repair) .
12. Remove the rear window channel. Refer to Window Channel Replacement - Front Side Rear (Window Channel Replacement - Front Side Rear) .
13. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Front Outside (Service and Repair) .
14. Remove the door latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Front Door (Service and Repair) .
15. Remove the upper auxiliary weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Upper Auxiliary (Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Upper Auxiliary) .
16. Remove the door bottom auxiliary weatherstrip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Bottom Auxiliary (Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Bottom Auxiliary) .




17. Insert a small flat bladed tool between the door wire harness conduit (2) and the hinge pillar in order to depress and release the tab (3) on the door wiring harness connector.




18. Disconnect the electrical connection to the door wiring harness.




19. Remove the rubber conduit and the wiring harness (1) from the door.
20. Remove the door check link. Refer to Door Check Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .
21. Remove all the plastic nuts and retainers from the door shell.




22. Remove the intermediate hinge fasteners (1) from both hinges.
23. Lift the door to remove.
24. Remove the door hinges. Refer to Hinge Replacement - Front Door (Service and Repair) .



Installation Procedure

1. Install the door hinges to the door. Refer to Hinge Replacement - Front Door (Service and Repair) .
2. Align the door hinge halves.
3. Lower the door so the hinge halves mate together.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.


Important: Use Loctite(R) Blue GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent prior to the fastener installation.


4. Install the intermediate door hinge fasteners.

Tighten the intermediate front door hinge fasteners (1) to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Install the door check link. Refer toDoor Check Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Touch up any paint damage to the intermediate hinge fasteners with body color paint.
7. Install all the retainers into the door shell that were removed during disassembly.




8. Route the wiring harness and the conduit into the door.
9. Install the door wire harness clips (2) to the inner door panel.




10. Connect the door wiring harness electrical connector to the body wire harness electrical connector.
11. Install the door bottom auxiliary weatherstrip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Bottom Auxiliary (Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Bottom Auxiliary) .
12. Install the upper auxiliary weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Upper Auxiliary (Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Upper Auxiliary) .
13. Install the door latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Front Door (Service and Repair) .
14. Install the outside door handle. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Front Outside (Service and Repair) .
15. Install the rear window channel. Refer to Window Channel Replacement - Front Side Rear (Window Channel Replacement - Front Side Rear) .
16. Install the window regulator. Refer to Window Regulator Replacement - Front Door (Service and Repair) .
17. Install the door frame applique. Refer to Door Frame Applique Replacement - Front () .
18. Install the window weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Window (Door Window Weatherstrip) .
19. Install the window. Refer to Window Replacement - Front Door (Service and Repair) .
20. Install the window outer belt seal strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Outer (Front Side Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement) .
21. Install the outside rearview mirror. Refer to Mirror Replacement - Power (Mirror Replacement - Power Mirror) .
22. Install the window inner belt seal strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Inner (Front Side Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement) .
23. Install the inside door handle. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Front Inside (Door Handle Replacement) .
24. Adjust the door if needed. Refer to Door Adjustment (Adjustments) .
25. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door. Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door
26. Install the door module.
27. Install the door trim panel.
