Main Bearing Cap Torque -- refer to procedure:
Lower Crankcase Tightening Sequence:
1. Tighten the lower crankcase bolts (1 through 16) in proper sequence.
1.1. Tighten the lower crankcase bolts in sequence to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
1.2. Tighten the lower crankcase bolts in sequence an additional 70 degrees using the J 36660-A.
Lower Crankcase Tightening Sequence:
2. Tighten the lower crankcase perimeter bolts (1 through 9) in proper sequence.
- Tighten the lower crankcase perimeter bolts in sequence to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
Cylinder Head Torque -- refer to procedure:
Important: DO NOT reuse the old M11 cylinder head bolts.
1. Install the new M11 cylinder head bolts (2).
2. Install the M6 bolts at the front of the cylinder head. Install the longer M6 bolt (1) in the outboard location as shown. Install the two shorter M6 bolts (3) in the locations shown.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Left Cylinder Head 11mm Bolt Tightening Sequence:
Right Cylinder Head 11mm Bolt Tightening Sequence:
3. Tighten the M11 bolts.
3.1. Tighten the M11 bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
3.2. Use the J 36660-A to rotate the bolts an additional 100 degrees.
3.3. Use the J 36660-A to rotate the bolts a final 100 degrees.
Cylinder Head 6mm Bolts:
4. Tighten the long M6 bolt (1).
- Tighten the long bolt to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
5. Tighten the 2 shorter M6 bolts (2).
- Tighten the 2 shorter bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
Timing Cover Torque -- refer to procedure:
Front Cover Tightening Sequence:
1. Install the front cover bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 14 Nm (124 inch lbs.).
Oil Pan Torque -- refer to procedure:
1. Tighten the A/T brace-to-oil pan bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
Oil Pan Tightening Sequence:
2. Keep the rear of the oil pan flush with the rear cylinder block and tighten the oil pan bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in sequence shown to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Tighten the remaining A/T brace bolts to the transmission.
