Automatic Operation

The automatic HVAC will maintain the interior temperature of the vehicle by controlling the A/C compressor clutch, the blower motor, the air temperature actuators, mode actuator and recirculation actuator to achieve the desired interior temperature. For fully automatic operation, the HVAC control module must be in the AUTO position. In cold temperatures, the automatic HVAC system will provide heat in the most efficient manner. The vehicle operator can select an extreme temperature setting but the system will not warm the vehicle any faster. Once the desired temperature is reached, the blower motor, mode, recirculation and temperature will be adjusted automatically to maintain the interior temperature selected. In warm temperatures, the automatic HVAC system will also provide air conditioning in the most efficient manner. Selecting an extreme cool temperature will not cool the vehicle any faster. As the vehicle cools down, the system will also modulate to provide the interior temperature selected. To achieve automatic operation, the HVAC system uses several sensors.

Dual Zone Operation
The right air temperature switch is provided to allow the passenger to offset air discharge temperatures on the right side of the vehicle. To activate the dual zone, the passenger rotates the switch to the desired offset. The temperature offset will be allowed as long as the driver's set temperature is not in the maximum hot or cold settings. The VF display will not show the passenger temperature selection.

The HVAC control module will position the right air temperature actuator, located on the right side of the HVAC module to a position to divert sufficient air past the heater core or evaporator to achieve the desired passenger temperature.
