Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation
FUEL FILL DOOR DESCRIPTION AND OPERATIONThe fuel door release system contains the following components:
^ The fuel door/trunk release switch
^ The driver's door switch
^ The Driver's Door Module (DDM)
^ The Rear Integration Module (RIM)
^ The rear fuse block
^ The fuel door release relay
^ The fuel door release solenoid
^ The valet switch
The RIM operates the relays when it receives a class 2 message from the DDM. The RIM will then verify that the vehicle is in park before releasing the fuel door.
The valet switch is used as a manual override for the system and must be closed in order for the release systems to work properly.
LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION (GENERAL)
The trunk release system contains the following components:

^ The rear compartment lid release actuator
^ The valet switch

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION (AJAR INDICATOR)
Trunk Ajar Indicator
TRUNK AJAR -28
The DIC displays the TRUNK AJAR - 28 indicator when the rear integration module (RIM) detects that the trunk is open or ajar. The DIC receives a class 2 message form the RIM requesting illumination. The IPC sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.
