Case Cover Axle Seal Left Replacement

- J 39051-2 Axle Seal Installer - LH

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the left drive axle.

Important Be careful not to damage the transmission case cover when removing the seal with a screwdriver.

2. Remove the drive axle seal (37). First use a screwdriver to pry out the seal from the transmission. Use pliers in order to remove the remaining housing of drive axle seal from the transmission.
3. Inspect the drive axle seal mating surface on the drive axle housing for corrosion, grooves or nicks.
4. Clean the drive axle seal mating surface on the drive axle housing with crocus cloth.

Installation Procedure

Important Be careful not to damage the transmission case cover when installing the drive axle seal.





1. Install the left-hand drive axle seal (37) using the J 39051-2 and a hammer.
2. Install the left drive axle.
