CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The engine oil level switch grounds when the oil level is at the proper level. With the ignition ON, and the engine OFF, the PCM should detect a low voltage input on the switch circuit (full oil level). With the engine running, the PCM should detect a transition from a low voltage to a high voltage input on the oil level switch signal circuit.

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
^ The vehicle is travelling at a speed greater than 5 km/h (3 mph).
^ The throttle position is greater than 5%.
^ The engine speed is greater than 2000 RPM.
^ The vehicle is cruising (no acceleration).
^ The following DTCs are not set:
- P0502
- P0503
- P0121
- P0122
- P0123

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
^ The PCM detects that the engine oil level signal circuit is low.
^ The above condition is present for greater than 8 seconds.
^ The PCM detects a low signal voltage, and/or the PCM does not detect a switch transition with the engine running

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The PCM records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic tails. The PCM displays this information in the Failure Records on the scan tool.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.
^ The history DTC clears after 40 malfunction free warm-up cycles.
^ The PCM receives a clear code command from the scan tool.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Using the Failure Records data may aid in locating an intermittent condition. If you cannot duplicate the DTC, the information included in the Failure Records data can aid in determining how many miles since the DTC set. The Fail Counter and Pass Counter can also aid determining how many ignition cycles the diagnostic reported a pass and/or a fail.
