Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E
Removal Procedure1. Open the console storage lid.
2. Ensure the cup holder is in the open position.
3. Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
4. Remove console shifter control trim plate bolts
5. Remove the front floor console bolts.
6. Remove the front floor console.
7. Disconnect the console shift control wiring harness, right side.
8. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable retainer.
9. Disconnect and remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the console shift control and bracket.
10. Disconnect the console shift control wiring harness, left side.
11. Disconnect and remove the park lock cable from the console shift control and bracket.
12. Remove the console shift control nuts.
13. Remove the console shift control.
14. Remove the retainer (1) in order to remove the console shift control handle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the console shift control handle, if removed.
2. Install the console shift control handle retainer.
3. Correctly installed console shift control handle retainer (1).
4. Incorrectly installed console shift control handle retainer (1).
5. Install the console shift control.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
6. Install the console shift control nuts.
^ Tighten the console shift control nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
7. Install and connect the park lock cable to the console shift control and bracket.
8. Adjust the park lock cable. Refer to Park Lock Cable Adjustment.
9. Connect the console shift control wiring harness, left side.
10. Install and connect the automatic transaxle range selector cable to the console shift control and bracket.
11. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable retainer.
12. Adjust the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to A/T Range Selector Cable Adjustment.
13. Connect the console shift control wiring harness, right side.
14. Install the front floor console.
15. Install the front floor console bolts.
^ Tighten the front floor console bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
16. Install console shifter control trim plate bolts
^ Tighten the console shift control trim plate bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
Important: The cup holder must be in the open position in order to install the front floor console trim plate.
17. Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
^ Tighten the front floor console trim plate bolts to 2 Nm (14 inch lbs.).
