Parking Lock Cable: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure1. Set the parking brakes and block the wheels.
2. Open the console storage lid.
3. Ensure the cup holder is in the open position.
4. Remove the front floor console trim plate bolts.
5. Remove the front floor console trim plate.
6. Disconnect and remove the park lock cable from the console shift control and bracket.
7. Remove the park lock cable from beneath the heater duct.
8. Remove the park lock cable from behind the accelerator pedal linkage and accelerator pedal bracket.
9. Disconnect the park lock cable from the pedal bracket.
10. Remove the steering column opening filler and knee bolster bracket in order to gain access to the bottom of the ignition switch. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Knee Bolster in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
11. Place the ignition switch in the ACC position.
12. Depress the tab in order to unlock the park lock cable from the ignition switch.
13. Disconnect and remove the park lock cable.
Installation Procedure
1. Place the ignition switch in the ACC position.
2. Install and connect the park lock cable to the ignition switch.
Important: Do not bend the cable less than a 102.00 mm (4 inch) radius during installation, the cable is not to be kinked or damaged.
3. Connect the park lock cable to the pedal bracket.
4. Install and route the park lock cable behind the accelerator pedal linkage and accelerator pedal bracket.
5. Install and route the park lock cable beneath the heater duct.
6. Install and connect the park lock cable to the console shift control and bracket.
7. Verify the function of the park lock system. Refer to Park Lock Cable Adjustment.
8. Install the steering column opening filler and knee bolster bracket. Refer to Bracket Replacement -Knee Bolster Body and Frame.
Important: The cup holder must be in the open position in order to install the front floor console trim plate.
9. Install the front floor console trim plate.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
10. Install the front floor console trim plate bolts.
^ Tighten the front floor console trim plate bolts to 2 Nm (14 inch lbs.).
11. Close the console storage lid.
12. Release the parking brakes and unblock the wheels.
