Turn Signal Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Verify that the multifunction turn signal lever is in the center of the OFF position.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Starting and Charging.
3. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
4. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Infl Rst Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
5. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
6. Remove the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers -Disassemble - Off Vehicle.





7. Remove 1 wire harness strap (2) from the wire harness assembly.





8. Remove 1 wire harness strap (2) from the upper tilt head assembly (1).
9. Pop the wire harness assembly (1) from the wire harness strap (2).





10. Remove the 2 tapping screws (1).
Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the multifunction turn signal switch. Use a small flat-blade in order to compress the electrical contact and move the multifunction turn signal switch into position.

2. Verify that the electrical contact rests on the canceling cam.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





Install the multifunction turn signal switch assembly (2) and secure by using 2 pan head tapping screws (1).
- Tighten the multifunction turn signal switch screws to 7 Nm (62 lbs. inch).

3. Route the wire harness assembly (1) along the steering column jacket assembly.





4. Pop the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).





5. Install 1 wire harness strap (2) to the upper tilt head assembly (1).
Install 1 wire harness strap (2) onto the wire harness assembly.
6. Verify that the lever is in the center or the OFF position.
7. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Infl Rst Steering Wheel Module Replacement.
8. Install the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers -Assemble - Off Vehicle.
9. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
10. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Starting and Charging.
