Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair

ACCELERATOR CONTROLS PEDAL REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the left instrument panel sound insulator.
2. Disconnect the accelerator cable (5) from accelerator pedal (1).
3. Remove the bolts (3) and studs (2) that retain the accelerator pedal to the bulk head (4).
4. Remove the accelerator pedal.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely without binding between a full closed and a wide open throttle.

1. Install the accelerator pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in General Information.

2. Reinstall the accelerator pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts and studs to 3 N.m (27 lb in)

3. Connect the accelerator cable (5) to the accelerator pedal (1).
4. Test for proper throttle opening and closing by operating the accelerator pedal. Also, inspect for proper carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
5. Reinstall the left instrument panel sound insulator.
