Rear Shock Absorber

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
3. Support the control arm with a jack stand.
4. Disconnect the ELC air tube from the shock.





5. Remove the two bolts securing the shock to the control arm.
6. Remove the trunk trim to gain access to the shock upper mounting nuts.





7. Remove the cover, the two nuts, and the reinforcement from the top of the shock.





8. Remove the shock from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the shock, reinforcement, and the two nuts.
Tighten the mounting nuts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Install the shock cover.
3. Install the trunk trim.





4. Install the shock-to-control arm bolts.
Tighten the shock-to-control arm bolts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Connect the ELC air tube to the shock.
6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
7. Lower the vehicle.
