Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

^ Tools Required
- J 29800 Cut-Off Tool.

1. Remove the oxygen sensor.
2. Support the catalytic converter.





3. Use the J 29800 in order to cut (1) the exhaust pipe (2).





4. Remove the front exhaust pipe nuts.
5. Remove the seal.
6. Remove the catalytic converter assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the catalytic converter





2. Install the catalytic converter to exhaust down pipe.
3. Install the seal.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





4. Install the intermediate catalytic converter to the intermediate pipe.
^ Tighten the front exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the clamp nuts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

5. Install the oxygen sensor.
