Starter Inhibit Relay Circuit Diagnosis
The Pass-Key II decoder module controls the Starter Enable Relay. The PCM and the Pass-Key II decoder module are connected by the starter disable circuit. The PCM will disable the starter relay after the engine has been running for several seconds. The starter enable relay is disabled when the PCM grounds the starter disable circuit to the Pass-Key II decoder module. This is used to prevent stater and flywheel damage. Perform all Engine Controls, Pass-Key II and Cranking System diagnostics before attempting to diagnose the starter disable circuit. The following conditions are associated with the starter siable circuit:
^ A grounded starter disable circuit will cause a No Crank condition.
^ An open starter disable circuit will allow starter engagement while the engine is running.
