Evaporator Tube Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 38042 Dual O-ring Joint Separator
^ J 39500 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System




1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Use the J 38042 to remove the condenser outlet dual O-ring joint.




3. Remove the evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator.




4. Remove the A/C line clip.
5. Remove the A/C evaporator tube.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector




1. Position the A/C evaporator tube.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Install the A/C line clip and nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 12 N.m (9 lb in).

3. Install the condenser outlet dual O-ring joint.

Tighten
Tighten the dual O-ring joint connections to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Install the evaporator inlet tube and nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
6. Using the J 39400-A, leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing.
