Heater Core: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURETOOLS REQUIRED
J 37097-A Hose Clamp Remover/Installer.
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
2. Using the J 37097-A remove the heater hoses from the heater core.
3. Remove the console assembly.
4. Remove the auxiliary air duct connector.
5. Remove the right sound insulator.
6. Remove the heater core heat shield screws and cover.
7. Remove the heater core cover screws from the HVAC module.
8. Remove the heater core cover.
9. Remove the retaining screws and straps from the heater core.
10. Remove the heater core.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 37097-A Hose Clamp Remover/Installer.
1. Install the heater core into the HVAC module.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the retaining straps and screws to the heater core.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N.m (18 lb in).
3. Install the heater core cover and screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N.m (18 lb in).
4. Install the heater core heat shield cover and screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N.m (18 lb in).
5. Install the right sound insulator.
6. Install the auxiliary air duct connector.
7. Install the console assembly.
8. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core using J 37097-A J 37097-A.
9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Fitting Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
