Exhaust Crossover Pipe: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the transmission assembly.





2. Remove the two bolts at the left side exhaust manifold (3).
3. Remove the exhaust manifold rear pipe - four nuts and bolts.
4. Remove one bolt securing the crossover pipe to the crankcase.





5. Remove one bolt securing the crossover pipe to the cylinder head.
6. Remove the EGR supply tube.
7. Remove the crossover pipe.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the flange and seal to the exhaust manifold rear pipe end of the crossover.
2. Position the crossover pipe and securely leaving the LH exhaust manifold joint loose.
^ Tighten the crankcase support bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the cylinder head support bolt to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

























































































































































































































































































































































































































































































3. Install the EGR supply pipe.
^ Tighten the nut to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).





4. Tighten the fasteners installed in step 2 as follows:
^ Tighten the left hand exhaust manifold (3) bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

5. Install the exhaust manifold rear pipe and six bolts.
^ Tighten the M10 bolts to the right hand manifold flange to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the M8 bolts to the crossover pipe flange to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the nuts at the converter to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

6. Install the transmission assembly.
