Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Pad Replacement - Upper

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The passenger's supplemental inflatable restraint (PSIR) door is not serviceable.

1. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the radio/air deflector trim plate.
3. Remove the shifter trim plate.
4. Loosen the console.
Slide back the console. Refer to Console Replacement (Oldsmobile) Service and Repair.
5. Remove the instrument cluster trim plate.
6. Remove the fasteners (4).
7. Remove the upper trim pad (2) from the instrument panel assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Align the upper trim pad to the IP assembly. Carefully push forward to engage the retaining clips.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the upper trim pad fasteners (4).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).

3. Install the instrument cluster trim plate
4. Position the console.
Secure the console. Refer to Console Replacement (Oldsmobile) Service and Repair.
5. Install the shifter trim plate.
6. Install the radio/air deflector trim plate.
7. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
