Ignition Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Ignition Switch Replacement: Removal Procedure:




1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove the radio control.
3. Remove the HVAC control head.
4. Remove the instrument panel (IP) cluster.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition switch.
6. Insert the key and turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ACC position.
7. Depress the transaxle park/lock cable retainer to release, then pull to remove the cable from the ignition switch.
8. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder from the ignition switch.
9. Remove the ignition switch bracket retaining bolts.
10. Remove the ignition switch through the IP cluster opening.
11. Remove the bolts retaining the ignition switch to the bracket.
12. Remove the bracket from the switch.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Ignition Switch Replacement: Installation Procedure:




1. Install the ignition switch bracket to the ignition switch.
2. Install ignition switch to ignition switch bracket retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the ignition switch retaining bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

3. Install the ignition switch into position through the IP cluster opening.
4. Install the ignition switch bracket retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the ignition switch bracket retaining bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

5. Install the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ignition switch.
6. Insert the key and turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ACC position.
7. Align and press into place to install the transaxle park/lock cable to the ignition switch.
8. Remove the key from the switch.
9. Connect the electrical connectors to the ignition switch.
10. Install the IP cluster.
11. Install the HVAC control head.
12. Install the radio control.
13. Connect negative battery cable.
