Cruise Control Cable Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Cruise Control Cable Replacement: Removal Procedure:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the cruise control cable from the cruise control module. Perform the following:
2.1. Rotate the cruise control cable fitting counterclockwise at the module.
2.2. Gently pull the cruise control cable out from the module.
2.3. Remove the cruise control cable bead from the cruise control module ribbon.

3. Open the accelerator control cable clip.
4. Remove the cruise control cable from the accelerator control cable clips.
5. Unsnap the cruise control cable from the accelerator control cable bracket.

6. Disconnect the adjuster clip to unlock the cruise control cable.
7. Unsnap the cruise control cable from the throttle lever.

Cruise Control Cable Replacement: Removal Procedure:

8. Remove the cruise control cable from the engine compartment.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Cruise Control Cable Replacement: Installation Procedure:

1. Install the cruise control cable to the engine compartment.

2. Install the cruise control cable to the throttle lever. Perform the following:
2.1. Hold the core wire adjuster at the side and slide it over the stud.
2.2. Pull adjuster body to open the throttle to wide open and let it back slowly.
2.3. Push adjuster clip to lock.
3. Snap the cruise control cable into the accelerator control cable bracket.

4. Install the cruise control cable to the accelerator control cable clips.
5. Close the accelerator control cable clip.

Cruise Control Cable Replacement: Installation Procedure:

IMPORTANT: Ensure the cruise control module ribbon is not twisted during installation of the cruise control cable.

6. Install the new cruise control cable to the cruise control module. Perform the following.
6.1. Remove the shipping retainer from the cable bead end.
6.2. Install the cruise control cable bead to the cruise control module ribbon.
6.3. Pull the cruise control cable at the engine end fitting, through the conduit until cable is taut.
6.4. Slide the cruise control cable conduit fitting over the ribbon.
6.5. Rotate the cruise control cable fitting clockwise.
7. Adjust the cruise control cable, if necessary. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Adjustment.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
