Aluminum Wheel Recoating Procedure

1. Clean the surface.
2. Soak the wheel with Amchem #33 or equivalent for 1-3 minutes. Rinse the wheel with water. Blow dry.
3. Soak the wheel with Amchem #1001 or equivalent for 1-3 minutes. Rinse the wheel with water. Blow dry.

CAUTION: To avoid serious personal injury when applying any two part component paint system, follow the specific precautions provided by the paint manufacturer. Failure to follow these precautions may cause lung irritation and allergic respiratory reaction.

4. Finish the wheel with Ditzler Declear Acrylic Urethane and Ditzler Ultra-Urethane Additive, or equivalent, using the following three coats:
4.1. First coat: Light mist coat; let flash
4.2. Second coat: Light; let flash
4.3. Third coat: Heavy double wet coat
5. Let the finish dry for 24 hours. For faster drying, force dry the finish at 60° C (140° F) for 30 minutes. Allow the wheel to cool for 30 minutes before mounting.

CHROME WHEEL CARE
Chromium plated aluminum wheels have been designed and manufactured to be serviceable and durable for the life of the vehicle providing reasonable precautions are taken to prevent unwarranted damage.

Be sure to keep the wheels clean using a soft clean cloth with mild soap and water. Rinse with clean water. Air dry or dry using a soft clean towel.

Avoid the following:
^ A car wash that has carbide tipped wheel cleaning brushes
^ Any cleaner that contains an acid. (This will immediately react with and discolor the chromium surface.)
^ Chrome polish unless it is buffed off immediately after application
^ Chrome polish to any painted surface
^ Any abrasive metal cleaner
^ Any oven cleaner
^ Any abrasive cleaning pad or brush
^ Any solvents
^ Wire wheel cleaner
^ Steel wool
^ Naval jelly

If you must remove road tar from the chromium plated or painted surface of the wheel using thinners, clean the treated area thoroughly with soap and water after you have loosened the tar.
