Front Seat System
The front seat belt system on the Oldsmobile includes the following components:^ The front seat belt retractor.
The front seat belt retractor is attached to the rocker with a bolt.
^ The front seat belt guide loop.
The front seat belt guide loop is attached to the upper center pillar with a bolt.
^ The buckle end of the front seat belt.
The buckle end of the front seat belt is attached to the floor pan with a bolt.
The front seat belt system on the Buick includes the following components:
^ The front seat shoulder belt retractor.
The front seat shoulder belt retractor is attached to the quarter inner panel with a bolt.
^ The front seat belt guide loop.
The front seat belt guide loop is attached to the upper pillar with a bolt.
^ The front seat lap belt retractor.
The front seat lap belt retractor is attached to the rocker inner panel with a bolt.
^ The center occupant belt.
The center occupant belt is attached to the floor pan on the seat rail.
The driver's seat belt system includes a seat belt switch in the driver's seat buckle-side belt. The seat belt switch controls a reminder lamp and a tone alarm. The tone lamp and the reminder lamp will not operate when the following conditions exist:
^ The driver's seat belt is buckled.
^ The driver's door is closed.
^ The ignition switch is turned ON.
When the driver's door is closed and the ignition switch is turned ON, but the driver's seat belt is not buckled, the following events will occur:
^ The tone alarm will operate for 18 seconds and then go OFF.
^ The reminder lamp will operate for 60-90 seconds and then go OFF.
Refer to Diagrams in order to diagnose a malfunction of the reminder lamp or the tone alarm.
