Throttle Body Spacer Removal
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Perform the Fuel Pressure Release procedure.
Description:
2. Remove the intake air duct from the air cleaner housing.
Description:
3. Remove the MAF sensor electrical connector (2) from the MAF sensor (5).
NOTICE: Do not damage the MAF sensor screen. A damaged screen could restrict airflow and lead to a driveability concern.
MAF Sensor:
4. Remove the MAF sensor bolts.
5. Remove the MAF sensor and intake air duct as an assembly.
Description:
6. Remove the accelerator controls cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Controls Cable Bracket Replacement.
Throttle Body And Coolant Pipes:
7. Remove the throttle body. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement.
Description:
8. Remove the throttle body spacer bolts (3).
Description:
9. Remove the crankcase ventilation pipe at throttle body spacer.
Description:
10. Remove the EGR valve water pump crossover pipe at throttle body spacer.
Description:
11. Remove the throttle body spacer (3) and gasket (2) from the intake manifold (4).
NOTICE: Use care when cleaning the old gasket from the aluminum surfaces in order to prevent damage to the sealing surfaces.
NOTICE: Do not use a cleaner which contains methyl ethyl ketone. This extremely strong solvent may damage components and is not necessary for this type of cleaning.
Use a carburetor cleaner in order to remove deposits.
Refer to the instructions provided with the cleaner.
12. Clean the throttle body gasket surfaces.
13. Clean the throttle body spacer gasket surfaces.
