EGR Valve: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid.
2. Remove the fuel line bracket nut (if equipped).
3. Lift the fuel line bracket off the stud (if equipped).
4. Push fuel line bracket away from the EGR valve base (if equipped).
5. Remove the two mounting studs from the base of the EGR valve.
6. Remove the EGR Valve.
^ Inspect the EGR passages in the crossover water pump housing for deposits.
^ Clean the EGR passages as needed. Refer to EGR System Cleaning.
7. Clean the mounting surface for the EGR valve.
INSTALLATION
1. Install cleaned or replacement EGR valve using a new gasket.
2. Install the two mounting studs/bolts at the EGR valve base.
Tighten bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb. ft).
3. Place the fuel line bracket onto the EGR valve stud (if equipped).
4. Install the fuel line bracket nut.
Tighten to 24 N.m (18 lb. ft).
5. Connect the electrical connector to EGR solenoid.
