Speedometer/Odometer

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), mounted in the transaxle, generates an AC
voltage signal with a frequency proportional to vehicle speed. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the VSS signal from the sensor and produces a 4000 pulse per mile output signal on CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT). The PCM provides this output signal, switched to ground at a rate proportional to vehicle speed, to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster uses the PCM output signal to operate the speedometer and odometer.
