Analog Speedometer

Description:

Description:

The standard speedometer has a high-torque swing needle indicator. A speed sensor at the transmission sends electric pulses to the powertrain control module (PCM) which buffers and converts the electrical pulses to speed signals. The speed signals are then sent to the quartz mechanism in the speedometer, which converts them to mechanical movement. These electrical pulses also control a stepper motor which drives the odometers.

The United States instrument cluster shows mph across the top of the scale and km/h at the bottom; the odometers register in miles. The Canadian/export version has km/h at the top and mph at the bottom; the odometers register in kilometers.

The instrument cluster's back-lighting matches the other IP controls. Blue high beam and green turn signal indicators are used.
