Muffler: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

^ Tools Required
- J 29800 Strut Cut Off Tool





1. Support the intermediate pipe.
2. Cut the intermediate pipe as close to the muffler as the tool will permit. Use the J 29800.





3. Remove the muffler hangers.
4. Remove the muffler assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the muffler.





2. Install the hangers.
3. Install the intermediate pipe to the muffler using a bolt type clamp.
4. Position the clamp on the left side muffler so that the nuts are toward the left side of the vehicle.
5. Position the clamp on the right side muffler so that the nuts are toward the right side of the vehicle.
6. Align the muffler and intermediate pipe/resonator assembly to the proper clearance.
^ Tighten the clamp nuts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
