Heat Shield: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURENOTICE: The Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) and the Oxygen Sensor use a permanently attached pigtail and connector. Do not remove this pigtail from the Heated Oxygen Sensor. Damage or the removal of the pigtail or the connector could affect the proper operation of the sensor.
Take care when handling the H02S and the 02S. Keep the in-line electrical connector and the louvered end free of grease, dirt, or other contaminants. Also avoid using cleaning solvents of any type. Do not drop the H02S or the 02S. Do not roughly handle the H02S or the 02S.
IMPORTANT: Refer to Powertrain Management for oxygen sensor replacement.
1. Remove the bolts that retain the heat shield to the vehicle.
2. Remove the oxygen sensor connector from the shield.
3. Remove the heat shield.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the oxygen sensor connector to the shield.
2. Install the bolts that retain the heat shield to the vehicle.
