Drive Belt Installation






1. Install the drive belt tensioner (1). Be sure to locate the tensioner anchor pin in the cylinder head recess.
2. Install the drive belt tensioner retaining bolt (2).
^ Tighten the drive belt tensioner retaining bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the accessory belt idler pulley.
4. Install the accessory belt idler pulley retaining bolt.
^ Tighten the accessory belt idler retaining bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





5. Route the accessory drive belt around the crankshaft (5), the air conditioning compressor (4), the idler (3), the generator (2), and the drive belt tensioner (6) pulleys.
6. Insert a 1/2 inch drive ratchet into the drive belt tensioner (6).
7. Rotate the tensioner counter-clockwise.
8. Route the remainder of the belt around the power steering pulley (1).
9. Slowly rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise until the drive belt is tight.
10. Remove the 1/2 inch drive ratchet.
11. Check the drive belt for proper seating in all pulleys.
