Thermostat Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining and Fitting Cooling System.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

3. Remove the air intake duct.
4. Disconnect the radiator hose.





5. Remove the thermostat housing.





6. Remove the thermostat.
7. Clean all sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the thermostat.
2. Install the thermostat housing using a new gasket.





3. Install the thermostat housing bolts.
^Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





4. Connect the radiator hose.
5. Install the air intake duct.
6. Refill the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
8. Start the engine.
9. Check for leaks.
