Parking Brake Pedal: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
2. Loosen parking brake adjuster to relieve tension on parking brake cables.
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Remove I/P sound insulator panel to access lever assembly.





5. Pull back carpet to expose parking brake cable.
6. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from lever assembly.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the parking brake switch.
8. Remove the parking brake lever assembly attaching nuts.
9. Remove the parking brake lever assembly from the vehicle.



INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install parking brake lever assembly to the mounting studs.
2. Install lever attaching nuts.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Tighten the parking brake lever nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the electrical connector to the parking brake switch.
5. Connect the front parking brake cable to the lever assembly.
6. Reposition carpet.
7. Install the I/P sound insulator panel.





8. Raise and suitably support to vehicle.
9. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment.
10. Lower the vehicle.
