Interior Wood Trim may be Mismatched

Built between VIN Breakpoints 116950-124150, VIN Dates 3/1/98-8/7/98

Important:
This bulletin should be used only for customer concerns of mismatched wood, color and intensity. The service technician is to replace only the damaged portion (i.e. the mismatched armrest switch mount trim plate or console trim plate) and not the entire door trim panel assembly or floor console unit. Unauthorized replacement of the entire door trim panel assembly or floor console unit will have warranty claim denied.

Some 1998 Aurora models may have front and rear side door woodgrain armrest switch mount trim plates and a front floor console woodgrain trim plate that differ from each other within the vehicle in color (from yellow to red) and/or intensity (slightly dark to very dark). If one trim plate is to be replaced, it may be necessary to replace all or some of the other woodgrain trim plates in order to get a good match.

Aurora switch trim plates and console trim plates are made of burl wood and some slight color and grain differences would be considered normal.

For removal and installation procedures on the front and rear door armrest switch mount trim plates, refer to the Door Section of the Service Manual. For removal and installation procedures on the floor console trim plate, refer to the Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console Section of the Service Manual.

For vehicles repaired under warranty, use the table.

For mismatched trim plates, use Failure Code 93. For any other condition, use appropriate Failure Codes.
