Power Antenna

When the ignition lock cylinder is in the RUN or ACCY position and the radio is turned on, the antenna extends to its full height. The extended height is approximately 80 cm (31-1/4 in). When the ignition or radio is turned off, the antenna retracts to its down position.

The antenna is attached to a plastic cable that is driven up and down by an electric motor. The motor is automatically shut off when the antenna reaches the full up or full down position. The switching is accomplished by the thrust reaction of the motor armature and worm gear assembly against the drive gear. The thrust reaction trips the reaction switch assembly which interrupts the flow of power to the motor.
