Condition

Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:

^ The CD player will not change CD's

^ The CD cartridge ejects prematurely

^ The CD cartridge binds in the changer

^ The CD changer will not release the cartridge

These conditions often occur when closing the trunk lid, or on rough roads.

Cause

These conditions may be due to the original Delco Electronics 12 CD changer being susceptible to cartridge jamming under harsh movement conditions. A Pioneer(R) changer replaced the Delco Electronics unit in production, approximately February of 1998.

The original unit can be identified by the "DELCO ELECTRONICS" marked on the unit. The Pioneer(R) units have "12-DISC CD PLAYER" marked on the unit.

Correction

If the 12 CD changer has any of the above symptoms, order a new Pioneer(R) unit from GMSPO (P/N 25678544) and scrap the original unit.

FOR ALL OTHER CONDITIONS, the original changer should be returned to the AC Delco repair station for repairs.

On the W-Cars, the trunk mounted bracket will also have to be replaced.
