Garage Door Opener Transmitter: Description and Operation

The Universal Garage Door Opener (UGDO) is located in the overhead console and is provided battery voltage at all times. The unit is programmed using the hand-held transmitter(s) of the owner's garage door/gate opener or security system. The UGDO system that is used on this vehicle incorporates Rolling Code technology. This level of security prevents anyone from recording the message being sent from the transmitter to the receiver and playing it back to gain access to the customers personal property. Rolling Code refers to the way the information is being sent out by the UGDO and accepted by the receivers. The transmitted signal is scrambled in a different order upon every transmission. The transmitter and receiver keep track of the appropriate order of the transmitted information. When the signal being sent by the transmitter is not in the order that the receiver is expecting, the transmission is deemed invalid
and no operation is performed.

The UGDO is compatible with most, but not all types and brands of transmitters.
