Front Wheel Drive (FWD)

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheels.
2. Remove stabilizer shaft link assembly bolt.
3. Remove ball joint cotter pin and nut, then loosen joint using tool No. J36226, or equivalent.
4. Separate joint with pry bar between suspension support and lower control arm.
5. Insert suitable drift or screwdriver into caliper and rotor to prevent rotor from turning, then remove hub nut, Fig. 7 .
6. Using puller tool No. J-28733-B, or equivalent, separate axle from hub, Fig. 8 .
7. Move strut and knuckle rearward.
8. Using puller tool Nos. J-33008 and J-2619-01, or equivalents, remove drive axle from transaxle, Fig. 9 .
INSTALLATION
1. If installing right side drive axle, install protector tool No. J-37292-B, or equivalent, so that it may be removed after drive axle is installed.
2. Install drive axle into transaxle by placing a suitable screwdriver into groove on joint housing and tapping until axle is seated, Fig. 9 .
3. Insert drive axle into hub and bearing, then install new hub nut.
4. Insert a suitable drift or screwdriver into caliper and rotor to prevent rotor from turning, then tighten axle nut to specification.
5. Attach ball joint to knuckle and tighten to specification.
6. Install stabilizer shaft link assembly and tighten to specification.
7. Remove protector tool No. J-37292-B, or equivalent.
8. Install wheels and lower vehicle.
