Suspension: Description and Operation

These models utilize an independent rear suspension, Fig. 1, that is secured to the vehicle body at four points. Control arms, a stabilizer bar and adjustment links are connected to the rear suspension support assembly to provide side to side stability and to allow for rear toe adjustment.

The Electronic Level Control (ELC) system employs rear air adjustable shocks which are anchored at the control arms and allow the system to maintain proper vehicle ride height under various load conditions. The shocks are not manually adjustable and must be replaced if they lose their resistance or begin leaking fluid.

The rear wheel bearings have been integrated into the hubs to eliminate the necessity of adjustments and periodic maintenance. This integral hub and bearing also incorporates a wheel speed sensor ring for anti-lock brake operation.
