Ball Joint: Testing and Inspection
Ball joints must be replaced if any looseness is detected in the joint, or the ball joint seal is cut. To inspect ball joints, raise and support the front of the vehicle, allowing the
suspension to hang free. Move the
tires at top and bottom and move the top of the tires in an in-and-out motion. If any ball stud looseness is visible, or the ball stud can be twisted in its socket easily, replace the ball joint.
