UPPER HEAD HOUSING COMPONENTS, SHAFT LOCK, TURN SIGNAL CANCEL CAM, UPPER BEARING SPRING, UPPER BEARING INNER RACE SEAT & INNER RACE

DISASSEMBLE

1. Remove steering wheel as outlined in Steering Wheel.
2. Remove SIR coil assembly.
3. Remove shaft lock retaining ring using lock plate compressor tool No. J23653-SIR, or equivalent, to push down shaft lock. Discard ring.
4. Remove shaft lock, then the turn signal cancel cam assembly.
5. Remove upper bearing spring, upper bearing inner race seat and inner race.
6. Remove tilt lever bracket.


ASSEMBLE
NOTE: Ensure all fasteners are securely seated before applying torque. Failure to do so may result in component damage or malfunctioning of steering column.
1. Install tilt lever bracket, inner race seat and inner bearing spring.
2. Install turn signal cancel cam assembly.
3. Install shaft lock as follows:
a. Align inner block tooth of lock plate to block tooth of upper shaft assembly.
b. Lubricate with synthetic grease.
4. Install new shaft lock retaining ring using lock plate compressor tool No. J23653-SIR, or equivalent, to push down shaft lock. Ring must be firmly seated in groove on shaft.
5. Install SIR coil assembly and steering wheel.
