Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

Fig. 7 Stop Lamp Switch Removal & Adjustment:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove lefthand side instrument panel sound insulator.
3. Disconnect switch electrical connectors, Fig. 7.
4. Disconnect vacuum hose from switch.
5. Remove switch from brake pedal support.
6. Reverse procedure to install, adjust switch as follows:
a. After installing switch, press brake pedal rearward until no audible clicks remain, then release the pedal.
b. Press brake pedal again to ensure no clicks are heard.
c. Compare switch adjustment to Fig. 7.
d. Only notch should be visible. If plunger is visible or notch is not, repeat adjustment.
