Circuit Operation

Retained Accessory Power (RAP) allows the radio, power windows and sunroof to be operated for approximately 10 minutes after turning the ignition switch to "OFF."

Battery voltage is applied at all times from Rear Fuse Block Fuse "INST PANEL 1" to the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Module, and from Rear Maxi(R) Fuse Block "IGN" Fuse. When the ignition switch is turned to "ACCY" or "RUN," voltage is applied from I/P Fuse Block "WSW" Fuse to the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Module "IGNITION-2" input When the ignition switch is turned to "OFF," the RFA module senses this and energizes the RAP Relay by grounding RAP Relay terminal "B7." With the RAP relay energized, battery voltage from Engine Compartment Maxi Fuse Block RH "IGN1" is applied to power the radio. The radio operates for approximately 10 minutes or until any door is opened. If any door is opened, the RFA module deenergizes the RAP Relay by removing the ground source from RAP Relay terminal "B7," thus discontinuing power to the radio. The 10 minute time interval can be reset by turning the ignition switch to "RUN," then back to "OFF."
