Throttle Body Assembly Removal and Replacement
Removal ProcedureNotice: Take care not to damage the MAF sensor housing screen. Damage to the screen could restrict airflow possibly resulting in a driveability concern.
1. Remove the rear seat cushion.
2. Remove the negative battery cable.
Intake Manifold Top Cover:
3. Remove the intake manifold top cover.
Intake Air Duct:
4. Remove the intake air duct.
MAF Sensor:
5. Remove the MAF sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove the MAF sensor/housing assembly.
Accelerator Bracket:
7. Remove the cruise control cable from bracket.
8. Remove the accelerator cable from bracket
Accelerator Control Cable:
9. Remove the accelerator control cable (1) from throttle body.
10. Remove the cruise control cable from throttle body.
Throttle Body:
11. Remove the TP sensor connector.
12. Remove the IAC valve electrical connector.
13. Remove the throttle body coolant hoses at the throttle body and surge tank pipe.
Throttle Body:
14. Remove the accelerator cable bracket and 2 lower bolts.
15. Remove the throttle body (1) and gasket (2).
Disassemble Procedure
1. Disassemble the TP sensor.
2. Disassemble the IAC valve.
3. Clean the throttle body gasket surfaces.
Assemble Procedure
1. Assemble the IAC valve.
2. Assemble the TP sensor.
Installation Procedure
Notice: The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the MAF sensor inlet duct must line up when completely installed. Misalignment may cause incorrect airflow readings resulting in MIL illumination or a driveability concern. Improper installation of the inlet duct assembly or air cleaner assembly may cause misalignment.
Important: Do Not Reuse the old throttle body gasket.
1. Position the new throttle body gasket on throttle body.
2. Install bolts from the throttle body to throttle body spacer and finger tighten 2 lower bolts. Tighten all 4 throttle body attaching bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
3. Install the throttle body coolant hoses at throttle body and surge tank pipe.
4. Install the accelerator cable bracket to throttle body spacer.
5. Install the accelerator cable bracket and 2 lower bolts.
6. Install the IAC valve electrical connectors.
7. Install the TP sensor electrical connectors.
8. Install the accelerator control cable at throttle body.
9. Install the cruise control cable at throttle body.
10. Install the accelerator cable to the bracket.
11. Install the cruise control cable to bracket.
12. Install the MAF sensor/housing assembly.
13. Install the MAF sensor electrical connector.
14. Install the intake air duct.
15. Install the intake manifold top cover.
16. Install the negative battery cable.
17. Install the rear seat cushion.
18. Check and add coolant as necessary. Long life coolant must meet GM Specification 6277-M.
19. Perform the TP Sensor Learning Procedure, if a new throttle body was installed. Refer to TP Sensor Learning Procedure. TP Sensor Learning Procedure
