Hub & Bearing Assembly

FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AND/OR HUB

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove drive axle nut, Fig. 1. Insert suitable drift punch or screwdriver into caliper and rotor to prevent rotor from turning.
4. Remove caliper bolts; support caliper.
5. Remove rotor.
6. Remove ABS front wheel speed sensor connector and unclip from dust shield.
7. Remove hub and bearing retaining bolts and dust shield.
8. Place transmission in PARK.
9. Using tool No. J-28733-B, or equivalent, separate hub and bearing from drive axle.

INSTALLATION
1. Apply light coating of grease to knuckle bore, then install hub and bearing to drive axle. Do not handle knuckle or hub near ABS sensor wire.
2. Install new drive axle nut, and draw hub and bearing onto axle.
3. Place transmission in NEUTRAL.
4. Install dust shield.
5. Tighten hub and bearing bolts to specifications.
6. Connect ABS front wheel speed sensor connector and clip to dust shield.
7. Install rotor, then the caliper. Tighten caliper mounting bolts to specifications.
8. Install suitable drift or screwdriver into caliper and rotor to prevent rotor from turning.
9. Tighten drive axle nut to specification.
10. Install wheel and tire, tighten wheel lug nuts to specifications.
11. Lower vehicle.
