Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Check RH Rear Power Distribution Center Fuse Block #1 PARK LP Fuse and RH Rear Power Distribution Center MaxiFuse Block #2 HEADLAMP Circuit Breaker by visual inspection.
2. Check I/P Fuse Block TMNSS Fuse and INT LP Fuse by visual inspection.
3. Check Engine Compartment MaxiFuse Block FLASH To PASS Fuse by visual inspection.
4. Check Engine Compartment MaxiFuse Block FOG LAMPS Fuse by visual inspection (Oldsmobile).
5. Check that Fog Lamp Enable Relay is securely mounted in the Engine Compartment #2 Relay Center (Oldsmobile).
6. If one headlamp doesn't work, check the bulb, the connections, and the related wiring (see schematic)
7. If high beams do not light, but High Beam Indicator lights, check LT GRN (11) wiring (see schematic) for an open, and check suspect headlamp assembly connector for proper terminal contact.
8. If headlamps on one side are dim, check the ground on that side. Check suspect headlamp assembly connector for proper terminal contact.
9. If high beams light, but High Beam Indicator does not, check bulb and LT GRN (11) and BLK (150) wiring for an open. Check Instrument Cluster Connector (see schematic) for proper terminal contact.
10. If Fog Lamp indicator does not turn off, replace Fog Lamp Switch (Oldsmobile).
11. Check that grounds G103, G104, G201 and G202 are clean and tight.
12. Before component replacement, check for poor connections at related component and in-line harness connector terminal connections.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
