Timing Chain Tensioner: Service and Repair

1. Remove front cover.
2. Remove two tensioner mounting bolts, then the tensioner, Fig. 6.
3. Reverse procedure to install, collapse and install tensioner as follows:
a. Rotate ratchet release lever counterclockwise and hold, Fig. 7.
b. Collapse tensioner retainer shoe and hold.
c. Release ratchet lever and slowly release pressure on shoe.
d. As ratchet lever moves to first click hold tensioner shoe at this point and insert a pin through hole and release lever, Fig. 8.
e. Install tensioner and bolts, then remove retaining pin allowing tensioner shoe to extend.
